What does P.A. stand for in the name? Professional association. This is a type of corporation more specific to medicine.
What is a Podiatrist? A podiatrist is a doctor that is specializes in the treatment of foot and ankle disorders. This includes both surgical and non-surgical treatments.
Who do you treat? All ages of patients including adults and children.
What do you treat? I am trained in conservative and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. This includes fractures and deformities. I offer minimally invasive procedures when possible including ankle scopes. For example: This only requires small 1 cm incision sites to place instrumentation and a small camera.
Do you need a referral? It is very rare for an insurance company to require a referral. Some United Healthcare plans will require a referral.
What insurance companies do you accept? All insurance including private, Medicare and workers compensation except Medicaid. We also accept cash.
Do you file insurance? Yes. We file insurance as a courtesy to our patients to aid in the sometimes difficult and time consuming task.
What are orthotics? This is a foot brace that replaces the insole of the shoe to try and correct a foot deformity or in some cases slow the progression of a foot deformity.
What do orthotics treat? Orthotics are used to hold the foot in proper position to limit abnormal function and pain. They also reduce foot pressures and can be used to prevent callouses, blisters or pain.
Are all orthotics the same? No. In the state of Texas an orthotic that provides correction of a foot deformity must be prescribed by a doctor. There are shoe inserts found at retail stores that sometimes are referred to as orthotics but these are non corrective devices.
What orthotics do you offer? We offer custom orthotics. We cast your foot and make corrections for your specific problem.
Do you offer other shoe products or braces? Yes. We offer new quality shoe insoles and also other custom bracing including ankle bracing and braces known as ankle foot orthosis (AFO)
Do you treat ingrown nails? Yes. It is usually treatable by a permanent procedure that is done in the office and will stop future ingrown nails. If done with care it is very successful. People are very happy post procedure. most people wish they had not waited so long to get the procedure done.
Do you treat nail fungus and do you use a laser? Yes, I treat nail fungus. No, I do not use a laser as it is costly and is not very effective as a single treatment. To date most insurance companies will not pay for laser nail fungus treatment. There are other better, less costly and less invasive ways to treat nail fungus.
How long does it take to treat nail fungus? Usually 6-12 months. The toe nails grow slowly at a rate of 2-3 mm a month. It depends on how bad the fungal infection is.
What is nail fungus: It is a fungal infection of the skin below the toe nail that enters under the nail from the end leading edge of the nail. It is often contracted after elevating the nail after dropping something of the toe or with repetitive micro trauma from running.
